Merry Christmas!

Yes, Christmas is a very important part of my faith life. No, I will not downplay my beliefs to pretend we all believe the same thing. And no, I will not look down on anyone who does not believe the same as me. When we shrink from living our faith, avoiding religious conversations, we hurt everyone. These conversations are vital and must, of course, contain a great deal of love, respect, and openness to new concepts. In our culture, we are told to avoid the topics of religion and politics. And then we wonder why no one knows anything about religion and politics! Others may not find Christmas a large part of their spiritual life, but faith is an important area in each of our lives. Whoever you are, you believe in something, whether it is carefully examined or a family tradition. I challenge you to seriously consider what you believe. Have you given it much thought? Does it make sense? Is their a nagging question about your faith that you have been meaning to look into? How much do you know about other people's beliefs? Find someone you admire in the area of faith and ask them questions. Don't leave this part of your life to chance. I believe it is the most important part. Your faith sets the foundation of your life and guides each of your decisions. I've heard it said, "If you don't stand for anything, you'll fall for everything." Know where you stand, so you can get to where you want to go. Dig in and know why you believe what you believe. It's worth it.
